ABC TEST
This non-standardized test requires the driver to recite the alphabet, or a portion of it.
In administering the test the officer will instruct the driver to stand straight with legs together, and to recite the the alphabet. Seemingly straightforward, the conditions under which this test is administered can cause anyone to fail.
When pulled over, drivers are generally quite nervous, which is one of the most common contributing factors in failing an ABC test. Sometimes, the person taking the test may simply not speak good enough english, or even know their ABC's. Of course these factors have nothing to do with alcohol or drug impairment.
