ONE-LEG STAND TEST

This test consists of standing with arms down and feet together, then lifting one foot off of the ground 6 inches, and counting to 30.

The officer will look for swaying, lowering of the foot, and/or hopping. Again, like the Walk-and-Turn test, alcohol can cause the failure of the One-leg Stand test; however there are a number of other ailments that could contribute.

Furthermore, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration admits that this test has only a 65% reliability factor in determining driver impairment. As such, simply because this test is standardized, it is far from certain in its results, and cannot come close to telling the full story in determining a DUI arrest and charge.

If you attempted, and failed, any sobriety test, a skilled Seattle DUI attorney from Bradley Johnson Attorneys will still be able to help.

Every Seattle DUI attorney at our office is certified to administer these tests, therefore we know their shortcomings just as well as officers and prosecutors.
